Bose QC3 noise-cancelling vs QC15 headphones

What is the difference between the Bose quietcomfort 3 and 15 headphones? The QuietComfort 3 (QC3) is on-ear fit headphone. It offers a proven combination of Bose noise reduction and audio performance; while the QuietComfort 15 (QC15) is around-ear headphone.

The QC3 headphones come with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and charger. You can expect an average of 25 hours of use per charge. While the QC15 headphones run on a single AAA battery and You can expect an average of 35 hours of use per battery.

Another difference between Bose noise cancelling headphones, there are two cables included with Bose QC3 and QC15 headphones. The cable with inline microphone and remote enables calling and audio control with select Apple products. The standard cable is for listening only and works with iPhone and most other mobile phones, in-flight entertainment systems, MP3 and CD players—any device with a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

You can compare between Bose QC3 vs QC15 in the following table.

As summary, the QC3 came out a clear winner, despite my initial thoughts that the around-the-ear form of the QC15 would be better. If you’re considering dropping $500 on a pair of headphones, I’d definitely recommend finding the extra $100 for the QC3.

It’s an even easier choice if you happen to be in the US, where the strong Aussie dollar and cheaper in-store prices make the QC3 a relative bargain at US$349, although the international power adaptor and second rechargeable battery aren’t included in US-market sets.
